How it works
Two sides of the same project.
You keep working the way you do now: price the job, write the quote, take photos on site. Contractor Connect gives your customer one place to see all of it under your name, and gives you a record of what they agreed to.
- You
- Set up once. Then each project is a PDF upload, a publish and an invitation. Documents, photos and updates follow as the work does.
- Your customer
- Opens an email, signs in once, reads the quote and accepts it. From then on they check the portal instead of asking you.
Your quoting software
Alongside your quoting software, not instead of it.
Contractor Connect does not connect to Xero, QuickBooks or any other accounts package, and it does not write anything back to them. You keep pricing and invoicing exactly where they are.
What it does is read the PDF you already produce. Save the quote as a PDF, upload it, and the reference, date and total are picked out of the text for you to confirm. If the PDF is a scan with no readable text, the automatic read stops and you type the details instead. The PDF your customer sees is always the one you uploaded.
Reading limits in this release
- PDFs up to 25 MB and 15 pages are read; larger files can still be uploaded with the details typed in.
- 40 automatic reads per workspace a day.
- Nothing is published or sent to the customer from the review step.
For the contractor
Seven steps, most of them once.
Creating the account is free. The workspace opens when the first payment of £20 is recorded, which covers the £10 setup fee and the first month.
01
Create your company workspace.
Sign up with your email, confirm it, then enter your company name and choose a short portal name. Subscribe to open the workspace.
02
Add your branding.
Upload your logo, pick an accent colour and add your contact details. Later, choose a portal appearance preset and a cover image.
03
Add or import your customers.
Type them in, or import a CSV or spreadsheet. Billing addresses stay with the customer; site addresses stay with the project.
04
Create a project and upload the quote PDF.
Start a project for the customer and upload the quote you have already written. A digital PDF is read for its reference, date and total.
05
Review the details and publish.
Check or correct what was read, save the draft, then publish. Only a published version appears in the portal; later uploads become new drafts until you publish them.
06
Invite the customer.
Send an email invitation from the customer's page. It is tied to their address, lasts 7 days and works once.
07
Keep the project moving.
Share documents and photos, publish dated updates, and see what is waiting for a decision in your notifications.
For the customer
An email, a sign-in, and everything in one place.
No app to install. The portal works in a web browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and the customer only ever sees what you have published or shared.
01
Open the invitation and sign in.
The customer follows the link in their email and creates a login with that address, or signs in if they already have one. Everything works in a web browser.
02
Review the quote.
They read the PDF in the portal and accept or decline. Accepting means ticking the confirmation and entering their name; you see the decision straight away.
03
Complete the contract and payment steps that are available.
Contract signing is a demonstration in this release, and card payments are in testing. Where a step is not live, the portal says so rather than pretending.
04
Follow the work.
Shared files, site photos, progress updates and your previous work all sit in the same portal, under your name.
What is live
The current release, stated plainly.
Some parts of the product exist but are deliberately not switched on for real agreements or real money. This is where each one stands today.
Quotes, acceptance and revisions
LiveUpload, publish, revise, withdraw. Customers accept or decline with a recorded confirmation.
Documents, photos, updates and showcase
LiveShared selectively with each customer. Internal files never reach the portal.
Branding and portal appearance
LiveLogo, colours, presets, cover image and welcome copy.
Contract documents and signing
DemonstrationBuild and issue a contract and walk through signing. A finished signing is stored as a demonstration, not a binding agreement.
Stage payments by card
In testingSet out a deposit, stages and final balance now. Live card payments through your Stripe account are not switched on yet.
Company portal addresses
Not yet availableCustomers use www.contractorconnect.co.uk/portal. Company addresses are reserved but not live. Custom domains are not supported.
The portal itself says the same thing. A demonstration contract is labelled as one, and a payment stage that cannot be paid yet shows the reason instead of a pay button. See the full feature list.
